The OIL TEST, how to tell if your food has been poisoned

For new readers, OIL is POISON.  Only fat makes you fat and oil is fat.  As a healthy vegan our goal is to avoid all oils and limit fatty plant foods like nuts, olives and avocados.  When you get served some food at a restaurant/grocery store or someone's house/party/work and you're not sure if it has oil you can do this simple OIL TEST.

Here is an OIL FREE Pasta from the Whole Foods Vegan Health Starts Here bar in Santa Monica.
Upper right corner...  I noticed the oil bubbles on the bottom of the cardboard by the time I was almost done eating...
Simply take out a bit of food from an oily suspected dish and put it in a pool of water.  Really experienced oil testers can do this simply in a spoon.
You can see the sheen of oil formed on this supposed oil free dish.  It was a disgusting clear oil like mineral oil or something.  This isn't the first time Whole Foods Hot Bar and Prepared Foods has done me wrong.  I'm not going to eat there any more after how rudely I was treated by Jamie at the Santa Monica store.

lol...saw you changed your post. My Whole Foods in Scottsdale has changed also. They still have the Healthy Starts Here stickers but I looked thru the offerings for lunch and nothing looked like I wanted to try it! Hang in there!

Yes, you can't trust their signs. I have seen dishes labeled "vegan" and it contained honey.

Frankly, I just think it's only safe to eat the fresh fruits and vegetables on their food bar. Even when things are marked as "Health Starts Here" it can be awfully salty.

lol, yeah Nancy was getting hell from Jamie, apparently he doesn't realize Whole Foods sends their employees to Dr. McDougall and teaches them all that oil is poison!

Actually no different than any of the Celebrity Chefs that go there to McDougall programs to cook. They cook no oil there and if you buy their books they are loaded with earthbalance, vegannaise and oil! I like Happy Herbivore since she doesn't use it unless it is a whole food, and Robin Roberston's books. When I wrote to her she answered me in 15 minutes to just leave it out except the baked goods, which I know substitutes for anyhoo and don't make them much! Who is Jamie?

is it OK to feed your cat oil?

haha, you're cat only encounters animal fat in its evolution so I would suspect no, but I'd find the Dr. McD of Vets and ask them... good luck!
