BURGER MANIA--EVERYTHING TASTES BETTER AS A BUGERS!!

Every since the warmer weather hit I've been BURGER CraZY!!!  I've managed to make EVERYTHING into a burger!  This was my 1st ever attempt at a veggie burger and I nailed it but since then I've gotten a lot more creative...darn that I didn' take pics or write my other recipes:(  ...next time!!  Basically, just follow this blue print to make your own Wildly Delish BURGERS!!


1. Pick your Fav Starchy Bean/s (Fabe, White, Pinto, Lima, Lentil, Mung...)
2. Pick a fun Grain (Kumut, Barley, Quinoa, Millet, or play is safe w/ Brown RICE)
3. Pick your Spice Theme (Indian, Mexican, Italian, America, Thai, Chinese...)
4. Pick your Veggies (I love Carrots and Celery w/ everything but add in something wildly fun)
5. Buy the Basics (Veggie Broth, Bread Crumbs, Instant Oats, WW Buns, Mustard, Ketchup, Tomatoes, Garlic, Onions, Lettuce, Spinach)

Now mix in all together and Wowlah ...You've Gone Burger CraZY too!!  Promise you can't mess up w/ this Fool Proof method...cause EVERYTHING tastes better as a BURGER=)



 Ingredients: 
2 c. Brown Rice
      1 c. Red Lentils
    3 c. Veggie Broth   
1 c. Carrots (diced)
1 c. Celery (diced)
2 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
1/2 tsp. Turmeric

2 tsp. Lemon Juice*
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
 1 Tbsp. Crushed Red Chili Pepper
2 Cloves Garlic (crushed) (optional) ..I'm allergic:(
1/2 c. WW Bread Crumbs (more if too moist)

1/2 c. Grape Tomatos 
1/2 Cup instant Oatmeal (rolled on top)      



** Lemon Juice was a after thought..experiment at your own risk!!!!
Cooking Instructions: 
6 Large Patties
  • Cook rice.  
  • Cook lentils on low heat in 2c. of veggie broth till tender. (15-20 mins)
  • Cook veggies and spices (carrots, celery, turmeric, red chili peppers) in 1c. veggie broth till soft and most liquid is absorbed
  • In a large bowl mix rice, lentils, & veggies.  Add black pepper, WW bread crumbs, mustard, & grape tomatoes.  Mix well.
  • Form mixure into patties and roll in instant oatmeal.
  • Pre-heat oven 350 degrees.  Place patties on a baking tray w/ parchment paper for 60 mins 
  • Freeze extra patties for a quick easy healthy burgers!!!

what a great idea. i think ima make some black bean burgers. i wonder if that wold work.

use the recipe from Veganomicon for Black bean burgers, just minus the oil. They turn out fantastic. Just don't mash up the beans too much. Think whole beans vs bean burger vs refried beans - should be in the middle

They hold together better if you add a little vital wheat gluten.
