I can't honestly tell you the last time I had peanut butter. I've known about these fat stripped peanut products like Better'n Peanut Butter, but hadn't ever sought them out. They take the peanut and turn it into flour and probably boil out the fat, the result is about 20 fat calories per every 100 so 20% fat, the maximum threshold for a packaged good you'd want to consume assuming oils and other garbage aren't also in them. Better'n Peanut Butter's ingredients are pretty simple, brown rice syrup, some tapioca, etc. The consistency and taste are right on. Each jar has 28 total grams of fat from the peanut flour so you don't want to slam one of these on a regular basis. I'd probably buy another one in a couple months if I get in the mood, but certainly not a pantry staple in my house, but fun and tasty.
I ran across this at Sprouts, but their website says Trader Joes also stocks them. I guess I've never looked for it there or been in that aisle so I can't vouch for it, but you can buy it from their website.

I buy the Better'n Peanut Butter on a semi-regular basis. Like you said, it is not really a pantry staple, but it's good for a once in awhile treat. Last week I used it to cut the fat and calories in Vegan with a Vengance's peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
oh my I bet it's a real treat to bake with...Lex and I jar only lasted a week so needless to say we won't be buying it for a while..lol:)

That Bell stuff certainly has nicer packaging, but its about 8% more fat I think, 28% vs 20%.
Well...sorta. The PB2 stuff is a powder, so it depends on what you mix it with. If you mix it with something fat-free and high-volume (my favorite thing to use is smashed up bananas), then 2 tablespoons of the powdered stuff can become 3 or even 4 tablespoons of "peanut butter" (ie spreadable stuff). I just brought it up because it tastes more authentic, being made of just peanuts.

I didn't realize it was a powder, so you're totally right a little will go a long way! Probably can get away with less fat overall. If I ever see that stuff I'll try it. Thanks!
